New Demo Trailer Released For 'Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior' Officially Licensed Video Game Inspired By VOIVOD

Independent developer Chaosmonger Studio has revealed a brand-new demo trailer for "Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior", a narrative-driven, run-and-gun Metroidvania based on the music, artwork and dystopian science-fiction universe of legendary Canadian metal band VOIVOD.

The game will participate in Steam Next Fest, October 19-26, where players will be able to experience a free playable demo featuring two distinct gameplay modes.

"Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior" is scheduled for release in early 2027 on PC and consoles.

Set in a post-nuclear future where reality itself is falling apart, "Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior" blends fast-paced run-and-gun combat, Metroidvania exploration, atmospheric storytelling and gritty, handcrafted pixel art.

Players take control of the Voivod, a constantly mutating warrior whose mind has been shattered. Guided by the mysterious Nothingface, he must journey through devastated landscapes, biomechanical nightmares and fractured dimensions to recover fragments of his lost memories.

Along the way, players will battle grotesque mutants, discover bizarre creatures, unlock new weapons and abilities, and confront formidable bosses in a world inspired by the band's unmistakable artistic universe.

Developed in close collaboration with VOIVOD, the game brings the band's mythology, music and visual identity into an interactive experience, combining its distinctive science-fiction themes with intense action and exploration.

The Steam Next Fest demo offers two distinct gameplay experiences, giving players different ways to enter the Voivodian universe.

Story Path lets players experience approximately the first hour of the full adventure, starting with its opening sequence and placing greater emphasis on narrative, exploration and the game's rich sci-fi lore. Players are gradually introduced to the world, its characters, weapons and abilities, following the natural progression designed for the complete game.

Combat Trial delivers a more immediate, action-focused experience, giving players access to a wider selection of weapons and abilities as they battle through intense enemy encounters and face a challenging boss.

Both modes showcase different sides of the game, from its strange atmosphere and unfolding narrative to its frantic combat and grotesque enemy designs.

As development progresses toward the planned early 2027 release, Chaosmonger Studio continues to fine-tune combat, enemy behavior and gameplay balance, incorporating feedback from ongoing playtesting to further polish the experience.

"Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior" is currently in development for PC (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Steam Deck) and consoles (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox),with a planned multi-platform release in early 2027.

Chaosmonger Studio is an independent creative studio based in Tallinn, Estonia, founded by Italian filmmaker and game developer Nicola Piovesan. With more than 20 years of experience across film, animation and interactive entertainment, the studio has developed games including "ENCODYA" and "Clunky Hero".

VOIVOD's latest album, "Symphonique", a special live collaboration with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra (Orchestre Symphonique De Québec),was made available on June 5, 2026 worldwide via Century Media Records. "Symphonique", which functions like an epic piece of cinema, showcases VOIVOD's pioneering futuristic metal with the strains of a symphony orchestra, and features a carefully curated VOIVOD best-of setlist composed of 12 songs across 73 minutes, recorded live on June 4, 2025, at the Grand Théâtre in Québec City, Canada.

VOIVOD previously played two shows with the Orchestre Symphonique De Montréal on January 29, 2025 and January 30, 2025 at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletie in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

VOIVOD is a Canadian heavy metal band from Jonquière, Québec. Their musical style has changed several times since the band's origin in the early 1980s. Starting out as a speed metal band, VOIVOD have added a mix of progressive metal and thrash metal to create their own unique metal style, and are credited as one of the "big four" Canadian thrash metal bands, along with SACRIFICE, RAZOR and ANNIHILATOR. They are considered by many as one of the most influential metal bands from the '80s, influencing and gaining praise from multiple bands and across numerous genres.

VOIVOD found mainstream success in the late 1980s with their fifth studio album, "Nothingface" (1989),which is the band's only album to enter The Billboard 200 chart, peaking at No. 114.

VOIVOD's long-awaited official documentary, "We Are Connected", received its world premiere on July 29, 2024 at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, Quebec. Canada.

Once more recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio, mastered by Maor Appelbaum and produced by VOIVOD, "Morgöth Tales" includes fresh studio re-recordings by the band's current lineup of nine especially selected, not-so-obvious picks from the band's hyper-classy and extremely diverse back catalogue (between 1984 and 2003) as well as a brand-new song and the album's title track, "Morgöth Tales".
